Spinal muscular atrophy also called SMA is a hereditary disease of motor neuron of the nerve cells which is caused by a genetic defect. Due to the missing protein which the muscle needs, nerve cells are ungoing.

As a result, the information from the central nervous system can no longer be passed to the musculature (alpha motor neurons).

This leads to loss of mobility. Children can not move without special external technical aids. Here are some types of robotic exoskeleton.
