Spinraza: Medicinrådet continues to hold to the old recommendation

Medicinrådet remained with the first recommendation. Since three years, parents have been protesting that their children are without treatment.

Scandinavia in general offered limited access to Spinraza to its SMA patients. Sweden, Norway, Finland offer older patients over 18 years no access to Spinraza. Here too SMA patients suffer from these miserable decisions. Few countries like Germany offer Spinraza For all their SMA patients.

It looks like Danish SMA patients can never get treatment.

It is also a very bad sign of upcoming medication, such as Zolgensma, Risdiplam. These drugs are also used in the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy.

In the past, this agency has rejected expensive drugs such as Ataluren in the treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

  1. Strange about the whole decision. Some of the Medicinrådet’s specialist staff were against their own specialists who said. Yes Spinraza also has an effect on growing children. It really looks. As if they didn’t want to provide treatment to these patients.

It is difficult to understand why Denmark the only EU country to do such an absurd decision.
